EXHIBITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Each image file submitted for consideration should:
- be a jpeg file only.
- have a file name in the form: "your_name - image_title.jpg".
- have a file size for email submission with a maximum 500 pixels on the longest edge of the image.
You can attach up to 3 images for consideration to a single email and send them to: hello@anordinaryplace.com with "Washed Up! submission" as your email subject line. In your email, include your name and each image's full title (if there is one) or 'untitled 01, 02...' (if there isn't a title). If your images are intended to comprise a set or a series, please indicate that in the email. Submissions should be emailed to hello@anordinaryplace.com to arrive no later than 23:59 on the 30th April 2026.
Image subjects and content:
There is no specific theme or remit for this exhibition. The subject matter of images displayed in this exhibition can be as serious, or as light-hearted, as the photographer / artist deems appropriate. Images must be suitable for public viewing, including by minors. Images depicting extreme violence, promoting racist, homophobic, or other discriminatory themes, or contravening legislation on obscenity, will not be accepted for the exhibition.
If your image(s) is/are selected, you will need to:
- pay a display fee of £3 per print to confirm your submissions' inclusion in the exhibition. Payment to be made by bank transfer (details will be provided via email from An Ordinary Place).
- print, mount and/or frame your own prints, to a maximum overall size of 24"x16" (61.0 x 40.6 cm). If you have larger pieces of work to display, please contact hello@anordinaryplace.com to discuss options.
- all prints must have a hanger midway along the top edge of the frame or mount. This can take the form of a 'sawtooth' metal hanger, or a nylon or wire line firmly fixed close to the top of the mount or frame. [In the gallery, we hang prints on vertical lines with hooks, so fixing points should be as close to the top of your frames as possible to minimise 'forward lean' when the frames are hung. There must also be some sideways adjustment where our hook engages your hanger, to allow the balance point to be found].
- drop off the mounted/framed prints to 87a Ocean Drive during specified opening hours, no later than end of business on Sunday, 24th May (drop off dates and timers will be provided via email from An Ordinary Place).
- indicate if you wish the print to be available for sale and, if so, what your selling price will be (see below).
- unsold prints must be collected from 87a Ocean Drive no later than end of business Wednesday 1st July.
Pricing your prints:
Bear in mind that the gallery will take 15% commission on sales, and that commission is subject to VAT, so the total cost of commission will be 18% of your base price.
For example: if you wish to receive £50 for the sale of your framed print, you should ask the gallery to charge a buyer £50 +18% = £59. You will then receive £50 from An Ordinary Place Ltd, while the gallery will receive £9 (of which £1.50 will be paid to HMRC as VAT).
Intellectual property:
By paying your £3 hanging fee, you are granting permission to An Ordinary Place Ltd to use your image on its social media platforms, and in other publicity material, for the promotion of the exhibition. Copyright of the images remains with the photographer at all times, and no other use will be made of the images by An Ordinary Place Ltd without the photographer / artist's expressed permission.
All artworks are displayed at the photographer / artist's own risk. In the event of loss or damage to an artwork on display at 87aOcean Drive, An Ordinary Place Ltd will consider claims for compensation to the value of the materials used in the artwork only, and will not be held liable for loss of value relating to the perceived intellectual merits of the artwork.
