Studio Hire Terms and Conditions.
It's tedious, but 'good fences mean good neighbours' as my Granny used to say...
Hiring of the studio space at An Ordinary Place Ltd, 87a Ocean Drive, Edinburgh ("the Studio") is subject to the following terms and conditions, which the hiring person(s) or institution ("the Client") are required to accept at the time of booking:
Purposes.
The Studio may be booked for the purposes of still or video photography only. When booking the Studio for these purposes, the Client accepts that they are satisfied with the facility and that they have deemed it to be suitable for the purposes of the hire. Clients should be aware that the Studio is close to a main road and does not possess a level of sound insulation consistent with that required for a commercial audio recording studio.
Payments.
Hiring of the Studio is conditional on the payment of 50% of the fee indicated at the time of booking, with the remaining 50% payable no later than 24 hours before the first hire session is due to begin. Payments to be made by bank transfer, details of which will be provided to the client at the time of booking.
Facilities and services.
Mains electricity, heating and ambient light, access to a toilet, and tea/coffee making facilities are included in the cost of hire (nb: interruptions of the power supply from the national grid are not deemed to be the responsibility of the Studio; as such An Ordinary Place Ltd will not be held liable for any losses incurred by the Client as a result of power cuts).
Studio lighting and accessories, and a small selection of backgrounds, are also included in the charge for the hire. Basic digital SLR cameras are also available for use by arrangement, at no extra cost. Clients are responsible for ensuring that their own equipment is compatible with the equipment provided as part of the hire, by the Studio. In particular we would draw clients attention to potential incompatibilities in studio flash trigger voltages.
Clients may use their own cameras, studio lighting, and photographic accessories at their own risk. Such equipment must be fit for purpose, with relevant current safety certification (eg, PAT test label) and CE marking, where applicable. No liability for damage to Client's equipment is implied for An Ordinary Place Ltd when such equipment is used within the Studio. No other equipment may be brought into the Studio by the client without obtaining prior agreement from the Studio.
Studio times.
Studio hire is delimited in sessions of four hours, being 08:00 - 12:00, 13:00 - 17:00 and 18:00 - 22:00. Booking adjacent sessions will include the one hour between sessions. The hire is deemed to commence from the time the hirer enters the Studio, or the agreed booking time, whichever is earlier. The Client must leave the studio at or before the end of the booked session.
At the end of a session, series of adjacent sessions, or a calendar day, the Client is responsible for clearing the Studio and ancillary areas used by them, of all lighting equipment, furniture, shooting equipment, food, drink, props and general waste except where provided by the Studio, or unless previously agreed with the Studio. At the end of a complete hire period, sets (and related waste) must be removed from the studio by the client, failing which an additional cost may be levied for clearance work undertaken by An Ordinary Place Ltd.
The Studio is located within a residential building. Clients must limit noise and disturbance to reasonable levels, in particular, but not exclusively with respect to, the playing of live or recorded music, and the transfer of equipment and personnel to/from the building, especially after 19:00 hrs during weekdays (and before 09:00 or after 15:00 at weekends).
Animals.
Animals required for studio photography purposes are permitted, provided their presence in a public place is permitted by relevant legislation (eg the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976 and the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991). Clients will be deemed liable for any damage to the Studio caused by animals under their custody. Clients will also be deemed liable for any trauma or injury to third parties caused by animals under their custody. Clients must ensure that the Studio is cleared of all hair, dander, saliva, excreta and soiled by-products arising from the presence of their animals on the studio premises. Domestic pets are not permitted in the Studio in a non-photographic (ie casual or companion animal) basis.
Parking.
The studio has no designated parking provision on site. Clients should be aware that parking in the area of Ocean Drive is limited. There are public, unreserved spaces to the rear of the building on Geissler Drive. Please note that parking spaces with erectable metal posts are private spaces not available to clients using the studio. The Studio cannot under any circumstances be held responsible for fines incurred by Clients and their visitors who park their vehicles in contravention of prevailing traffic laws and local parking restrictions.
Insurance.
While in the studio, the Client is responsible for their own insurance cover (and that of their employees, agents, and third party appointments made by them) against theft, loss or damage to their own equipment. An Ordinary Place Ltd will not be held liable for any claims whatsoever made by the Client or their employees, agents, and third party appointments while on the Studio premises.
The Client is responsible for, and liable for, their own insurance to cover personal injury to themselves, their employees and agents, including liability applicable to any third parties involved.
Damage.
The Client agrees to compensate An Ordinary Place Ltd for loss, damage or distress to equipment, facilities, or to the fabric of the Studio itself, if caused by the client, their employees or their appointed agents, or third party appointments, including models hired by the client.
