The heat was hot

So there I was, panning my lens across the seemingly endless, arid vista of the Atacama desert near Valle del Arcoiris (Rainbow Valley) when up, out of the scorched landscape, pops... a cyclist, in full mountain bike attire. In truth, not as rare a sight as one might imagine: adventure cycling is a big thing in these parts, but I naively thought these two-wheel enthusiasts would keep to the designated roads and tracks if only because assistance would be fairly quick to arrive if they got into difficulties. But I guess that's not the point of adventuring, and for this cyclist at least, he'd been through the desert on a horse ...OK, bike... with no name.
