Too much snow white

Muirhouse is a council estate in the North of Edinburgh that made headlines for all the wrong reasons.

In the 1980s it allegedly boasted the highest concentration of intravenous drug users in Europe, and drug abuse still underlies much the criminal activity in the area.

But the headlines are rarely the whole story, and the locals encountered by yours truly when walking the AOP dog on the (sometimes snowbound) golf course, including the so-called 'jakey' types, exhibit a sociable disposition that residents of some more affluent parts of Edinburgh might learn from.
