Thunderbird Three (aka the Scott Monument) in Edinburgh, caught in stark winter sunshine last December.

The monument to the author Sir Walter Scott was completed in 1844, some twelve years after the author's death (and a few months after the death of the architect, who fell into the Union Canal on his way home from the site, earlier the same year).

The monument is a very imposing piece of gothic architecture, but in my head it resembles one of Gerry Anderson's International Rescue vehicles that I had as a kid. 'Stand by for action', eh? Oh, hold on, that was Stingray...
